HISTORY

1995-2005: MusicaEuropa, born in Rome and currently preparing the International Festival of Young Musicians 2005, rounds off ten years of dedication to promoting art and culture.  What is its goal?  To promote the sharing of different cultures in a socially progressive context by young musicians of talent and national and international partnerships of importance.

Some of the many initiatives taken over these past years:

- November 1996: conceptualization of the five year project: L'ARTE PER LA VITA - UNA VIA PER IL GIUBILEO DEL 2000 (Art for Life - a Road to the Jubilee 2000).  A different theme was chosen for each year:  Art in Society; Sacred Sounds - Encounters of the three Monotheistic Cultures - Music from the Christian, Jewish Islamic traditions. Sacred Sounds - Order and Confusion - Baroque in Rome between Art and Religion.

- December 2000: organization of the international conference: European Cultural Associations - today's questions, tomorrow's developments.

- Fall 2001-2005:  birth of the renowned International Festival of Young Musicians 2005, today in its sixth edition and winner in five consecutive years of the European Union "Culture 2000" Framework Programme.

Born in 2001, the same year the Festival was created, were the World Youth Orchestra and the World Youth Chamber Orchestra, composed of talented young musicians from round the world.  The World Youth Orchestra, nominated UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2002 and presented with the Medaglia d'Argento and the Targa d'Argento by the President of the Italian Republic in 2004, was invited to perform around the world.  In June of 2005, the WYO was part of the great Dialogue and Brotherhood among Diverse Cultures concert which ended its tour at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York.

MusicaEuropa continues to believe with resolve in music as a means of diffusing a culture of peace and its special contribution has been recognized by premier institutions worldwide as having great worth.
