Young Artists and the Opera – Giovani all’opera - Il Matrimonio segreto - Turkey 2009

The Project
The project Young Artists and the Opera – Giovani all’opera, will be developed in two years, 2009 and 2010. One of the main aims of this project is to create a Euro-Mediterranean artistic laboratory ending up with the performance of the opera “Il matrimonio segreto” by Domenico Cimarosa. This project is promoted and financed by the Turkish CFCU through the Italian Institute of Culture in Ankara as part of the project “KaleidoscopEurope” Civil Society Dialogue/Cultural Bridges Programme. Partners of the project will be: European Union, MusicaEuropa (Italy), Italian Cultural Institute in Ankara and Istanbul (Italy), CFCU, TOBAV, METU (Turkey), State Conservatory (Turkey), Concertino Prague (Czech Republic), Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (Lithuania), Krakow Music Academy (Poland), National Conservatory of Music ESMAE (Portugal).

About the Subject
The opera Il matrimonio segreto by Cimarosa was first performed on February 7th 1792 at the Burgtheater Theatre in Vienna with an immediate and long lasting success. The opera is amazing and exciting and continues to be greatly appreciated by audiences around the world.

Conductor and Orchestra
Damiano Giuranna, Founder and Musical Director of the World Youth Orchestra Unicef Goodwill Ambassador. The Orchestra is composed by young musicians coming from the most famous Universities, Academies and Conservatories from all the five Continents.

Vocal Cast
Carolina: Diana Mian, Elisetta: Ana Carolina Varela Estrella, Fidalma: Francesca De Giorgi
Paolino: Domenico Menini, Il Conte: Giulio Boschetti, Geronimo: Omar Montanari.

Performance and Staging
Semi-staged performance of the opera. The scene will be simple and created around the elements of costumes and lights.

Il brano Capricico per Orchestra di Marco Lena, commisionato da MusicaEuropa ed eseguito in prima esecuzione assoluta dalla World Youth Chamber Orchestra diretta da Damiano Giuranna, è stato selezionato dal prestigioso 2008 INTERNATIONAL RESTRUM OF COMPOSERS in collaborazione con RAI Radio 3.
